Rep. Gianforte visits students at Manhattan Christian School

A special guest visited a government class at Manhattan Christian School Monday morning to discuss his daily life as Montana’s congressman in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Rep. Greg Gianforte (R-Montana) was welcomed to a full classroom of eager minds with a lot of government questions at Manhattan Christian School.

“This was a government class, they just finished studying how Congress works so to come in and get a day in the life of a Congressman fit right in the curriculum and I was thrilled to accept the invitation,” Gianforte said. “There is nothing more important than bringing up the next generation and to be here on Martin Luther King Day to celebrate the work he did to really fulfill this promise of equal opportunity for all. It was great to be here and interact with the students.”

A couple of students thought it was really cool to have Gianforte be in their classroom.

“Yeah, I loved it. It’s really cool that someone who is representing us on a national level took the time out of his day to come and just visit with us and show us, like, how he works and that he is a real person and not just someone in Washington,” said senior Kelcie Hill.

The students asked Gianforte a lot of great questions.

“Well, the thing that really stood out to me, the level of engagement and interest in the process. And they asked some really hard questions. I can’t claim I have all the answers to every question. It was mostly about my experience back in Washington serving this great state of Montana and I’m pretty up to speed on all of that,” Gianforte said.

Gianforte also went to the American Legion to hand out veterans' awards at 1 p.m. today.
