“End This Socialist Charade,” Gianforte Says of Medicare for All
At a congressional hearing today on Medicare for All, Congressman Greg Gianforte issued a warning about the destructive impact Medicare for All would have on Montana.
“Medicare is critical to Montana seniors, and we should work to protect the benefits they’ve earned. I believe the federal government must honor the commitment it made to our seniors. But Medicare for All will destroy Medicare as we know it,” Gianforte warned.
Gianforte described the impact Medicare for All will have on Montana seniors.
“Medicare for All will gut Medicare, end the VA as we know it, and put Montana seniors at the back of the line. To force the over 225,000 Montanans who rely on Medicare to share their pool with everyone isn’t fair to Montana seniors,” Gianforte said.
Gianforte went on to describe the effect Medicare for All will have on rural health care, particularly reducing access to health care.
He discussed how Medicare for All will bring a hefty, budget-busting price tag of 52 trillion dollars and ban private health insurance.
Gianforte closed by calling for bipartisan solutions to fix America’s health care system, not a “socialist charade.”
“In reality, Medicare for All is Medicare for none. Instead of a reckless government takeover of our health care system, we should take a bipartisan approach to fix our broken health care system. We should protect patients with preexisting conditions, increase transparency and choice, preserve rural access to care, and lower costs. Let’s get to work on that, and end this socialist charade,” Gianforte said.
According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, 231,592 Montana seniors are enrolled in Medicare.
