Gianforte Applauds President Trump Signing VA Reforms Into Law
Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte released the following statement today after President Trump signed the VA MISSON Act into law.
“Our veterans made a commitment to serve and protect our country, and the federal government should keep its commitment to serve and protect our veterans,” said Gianforte. “I am proud to support the VA MISSION Act and its reforms that provide our veterans with more reliable, timely access to high quality care. This is a great day, and I applaud President Trump for signing these VA reforms into law.”
The VA MISSION Act streamlines the VA’s community care programs into one cohesive program. It creates a nonpartisan process for reviewing VA’s assets and expands the VA’s Post-9/11 Caregiver Program to include veterans injured before September 11, 2001. The legislation also includes funding to extend the Veterans Choice Program until the implementation of the VA MISSION Act.
Leaders of 38 veterans service organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, and Vietnam Veterans of America, wrote a letter (HERE) offering their “strong support” for the VA MISSION Act.
The U.S. House passed the VA MISSION Act 347-70 on May 16, 2018. The measure cleared the Senate 92-5 on May 23.
