Press Release

Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte and U.S. Senators Steve Daines and Jon Tester announced today that Shane Vomund, a senior at Red Lodge High School, has been accepted to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

Vomund is first in his class, has run cross country, and has participated in the Speech and Debate Team.

“A talented student and athlete, Shane has a very promising future,” Gianforte said. “I wish Shane the very best success, and I’m confident he’ll thrive and represent Montana well at the Air Force Academy.”

“Shane exemplifies what it means to be a young leader in Montana,” Daines said. “Ranked first in his class at Red Lodge High School and a leader in the community, I have no doubt Shane will excel at the Air Force Academy.”

“Shane has shown true dedication and leadership through his involvement in athletics, clubs, and student government,” Tester said. “It’s an honor to nominate such a hardworking young man to attend one of our top service academies, and I have no doubt that he will continue to make Montana proud.”
