Gianforte Floor Statement on CARES Act
Congressman Greg Gianforte (R-Mont.) spoke on the House floor today in support of the bipartisan Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
Remarks as Prepared for Delivery
Mister Speaker, last night, we learned that a Montanan died due to COVID-19, the first in our state. Our hearts are heavy back home.
Mister Speaker, Montanans are concerned.
They’re concerned about the health of their families and communities.
They’re concerned about the fallout from this outbreak. They’re concerned they may have to shudder their businesses and lay off their workers. They’re concerned they may not have a job tomorrow or see their next paycheck.
We’re addressing many of those concerns today with the CARES Act.
It helps families and workers so they can pay their bills and put food on the table.
It provides loans and grants to small businesses so they can keep their doors open and their employees on payroll.
It boosts funding to support those on the front lines – from our hospitals and health care providers to the CDC to VA facilities.
Mister Speaker, I encourage my colleagues to vote for the CARES Act and provide emergency relief to the American people facing this crisis.
Thank you, Mister Speaker. I yield back.
