Gianforte Praises Passage of Public Lands Package in Senate, Demands Action in House
Congressman Greg Gianforte today praised Senate passage of a public lands package and demanded that House leaders schedule a prompt vote on the bill.
The public lands package includes two measures Gianforte champions, the permanent reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act.
“I appreciate the Senate moving forward with a public lands package that’s so important to Montana. The permanent reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund and the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act will help preserve and expand public access to our public lands,” Gianforte said. “I urge House leaders to keep the momentum going and quickly bring up this public lands package for a vote.”
Gianforte has been a consistent supporter of the permanent reauthorization of the LWCF. In the last Congress, Gianforte cosponsored H.R. 502, which permanently reauthorizes the LWCF, and voted twice for it.
Gianforte introduced the Yellowstone Gateway Protection Act, H.R. 426, in January 2018. In the last Congress, Gianforte introduced the bill, H.R. 4644, and guided it to passage through the House Natural Resources Committee.
