Gianforte Statement on June Jobs Report
WASHINGTON – Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte released the following statement in response to the U.S. Department of Labor’s June jobs report.
“Our economy continues to grow stronger, creating more jobs and bringing higher wages across the country,” Gianforte said. “Since President Trump signed tax reform into law in December, the economy created nearly 1.3 million new jobs. Pro-growth policies of congressional Republicans and President Trump, including tax cuts and regulatory reforms, are working for Montana and bringing greater opportunity to Montanans.”
The U.S. Department of Labor reported the economy added 213,000 new jobs in June, exceeding expectations. Economists polled by Bloomberg anticipated job growth of 195,000.
The economy has created 2.4 million jobs in the last 12 months.
The unemployment rate was 4.0 percent in June as the labor force grew by 601,000.
Since tax reform was enacted in December, the economy added 1.287 million jobs
Since tax reform was signed into law, Montana’s unemployment rate has dropped to 3.9 percent, and the national unemployment rate has fallen to 4.0 percent.
Average hourly earnings increased 2.7 percent from a year ago.
