Gianforte Votes to Improve Montana’s Water Infrastructure
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte voted last night for the Water Resources Development Act of 2018 (WRDA).
“Improving and modernizing our nation’s infrastructure is critical,” said Gianforte. “This bill is a good first step toward rebuilding and restoring America’s ports, waterways, locks, dams, and other parts of our water infrastructure. The measure will empower our local communities, grow our economy, and create good-paying Montana jobs, all while bringing greater transparency and accountability to the federal government.”
The bipartisan legislation authorizes locally identified investments in America’s water resources infrastructure. The measure strengthens the nation’s economy and improves the ability of American producers to transport their goods throughout the country and ultimately the world. The bill cuts red tape at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers so that infrastructure projects can move forward more quickly and at lower cost.
The bill also increases the budget for zebra and quagga mussel inspection by $50 million to $75 million, an important investment for Montana.
WRDA, H.R. 8, passed the U.S. House of Representatives last night by a vote of 408-2.
