Gianforte: “We Have to Get the Government Working for the People Again”
Congressman Greg Gianforte on Tuesday led an effort on the House floor to promote a nonpartisan, actionable plan to reform the federal government.
Leading the Government Efficiency, Accountability, and Reform (GEAR) Task Force, Gianforte worked with lawmakers, experts, and members of the Trump administration to produce the report.
“Only 17 percent of Americans today say they can trust the government in Washington. We have to get the government working for the people again,” Gianforte said.
“Our three branches of government have drifted from their original purpose, cultivating a culture of waste,” Gianforte said. “That’s why we’ve produced this playbook of 100 commonsense, nonpartisan solutions, for efficiency, accountability, and reform of our federal government.”
During the special order, lawmakers praised the framework and thanked Gianforte for his leadership of the Republican Study Committee’s GEAR Task Force.
The report, Power, Practices, Personnel: 100+ Commonsense Solutions to Better Government, is a conservative, solutions-oriented plan for reforming the federal bureaucracy to provide Americans with a more efficient, effective, and accountable government.
The plan focuses on three key pillars:
1. Power: Reforming Government Power Structures
Enacting policies to restore the balance of power between the three co-equal branches of government and reclaim congressional power ceded to unelected bureaucrats
2. Practices: Reforming Government Practices
Advancing both broad institutional reforms and targeted solutions to eliminate waste, duplication, and inefficiency across the federal government
3. Personnel: Reforming Government Personnel Policies
Embracing lessons learned from the current economic boom to encourage innovation, improve morale, and increase the effectiveness of our dedicated federal workers
