A Congressional hearing was recently held to examine challenges faced by ranchers seeking to graze livestock on federal land and to identify opportunities for more productive range management practices.
During the hearing, cattle and sheep producers warned Congress that environmental laws are increasingly being misused by fringe activist groups and pose a growing threat to grazing on federal lands.
As part of a tour to hear the concerns of eastern Montanans, U.S. Rep. Greg Gianforte, R-Mont., spent time in Sidney on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
While visiting with area residents, Gianforte remarked that during his time in Washington, D.C., he has found that a lot of bureaucrats don’t understand the rural way of life.
“This is the checks and balances part that our forefathers envisioned,” the Republican said of visiting with constituents.
WASHINGTON – Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte and Representative Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) have introduced two pieces of bipartisan legislation to relieve certain sectors of the trucking industry from the Federal Motor Carrier Association’s electronic logging device (ELD) mandate.
The Small Carrier Electronic Logging Device Exemption Act of 2018 will completely exempt businesses which operate ten or fewer trucks from the requirements of the ELD mandate. The Agricultural Business Electronic Logging Device Exemption Act of 2018 will completely exempt agricultural businesses.
WASHINGTON – Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte recently concluded his Montana Small Business Tour, which coincided with National Small Business Week (April 29 - May 5). Gianforte’s tour included stops in Bozeman, Missoula, Ronan, Kalispell, and Great Falls to discuss issues important to Montana’s small businesses.

The new Farm Bill provides greater certainty for our ag producers, maintains a strong safety net for our farmers, includes much needed regulatory relief, and improves how we manage our forests.
WASHINGTON – To kick off National Agriculture Week, Montana Congressman Greg Gianforte today announced his Agriculture Advisory Committee. The committee comprises Montana agriculture stakeholders who provide Gianforte with critical input.
In the initial conference call with committee members from throughout the state, Gianforte welcomed and thanked the group, and provided a legislative update, including the latest on the upcoming Farm Bill, trade, tax reform, and other issues.
