According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, economic growth in the second quarter of 2018 reached 4.1 percent – the best pace in four years. This is in stark contrast to the average annual growth of 1.6 percent between 2009 and 2017.

The House has been productive, and the numbers speak for themselves. According to the House Majority Leader, the House passed nearly 700 bills through May 25 – 166 more than the House averages. More than 500 of those bills continue to wait for a vote in the U.S. Senate.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to these heroes and to their families. We owe them a debt we cannot repay as much as we may try.

Washington needs to be cleaned up. Our nation’s founders intended for citizen legislators to lead. They didn’t intend for them to become professional politicians. Along with a bipartisan group of first-term lawmakers, I recently introduced a constitutional amendment to limit the terms members of Congress may serve.
